Leviticus 6:17 NLT
“Remember, it must never be prepared with yeast. I have given it to the priests as their share of the special gifts presented to me. Like the sin offering and the guilt offering, it is most holy.”
Never be prepared with yeast
Believers need to remember God’s commands and follow them with respect and careful consideration. In today’s reading, God instructed Aaron and his sons never to mix yeast with their portion of choice flour. It’s essential to recognize that obeying God’s rules benefits us, not God. We often mistakenly believe that following God’s commands is doing Him a favour! God’s generosity is also evident in that even though He prohibited the use of yeast in the offering; He did not forbid the priests from consuming yeast in their everyday lives. It’s important to note that this instruction was only for Aaron and his sons, and no record of Moses extending it to the entire Israelite community exists. The lesson here is that sometimes God speaks directly to a specific group and not everyone. Friends, how are you upholding the instructions the Lord gave you?
Prayer
Our heavenly Father, it is best to obey You than follow my heart or the world. Most holy Father, please help me always to obey You regardless of anything. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
