Leviticus 16:2 NLT
”The Lord said to Moses, “Warn your brother, Aaron, not to enter the Most Holy Place behind the inner curtain whenever he chooses; if he does, he will die. For the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—is there, and I myself am present in the cloud above the atonement cover.“
I myself am present
In today’s scripture, God revealed to Aaron that He always resides in the Ark of the Covenant. God made it clear to Aaron that He was not just an occasional visitor to the Ark but was always present. This shows God’s faithfulness and His commitment to His people. Therefore, Aaron and the people of Israel should not view the Ark as just a mere figurehead but as a sacred symbol of God’s presence among them.
God’s decision to reside in the Ark of the Covenant was not arbitrary. It was because the people of Israel had made the place conducive to His presence. They had followed God’s instructions carefully and had constructed the Ark according to His specifications. However, despite God’s continuous presence among His people, He warned Aaron not to approach His presence carelessly. He had to do so with utmost care and reverence, or else he would face the consequences of his actions.
We cannot fully comprehend the grace we have in Christ Jesus. Through Him, we can approach God anytime and anywhere without fear of being rejected or punished. In Christ, every time is the right time to approach God. As Jesus told His disciples in Luke 10 verse 24, many prophets and kings desired to experience what they were experiencing. We are privileged to have access to God’s presence through Jesus; we should never take this for granted.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for always being with me. More importantly, I am grateful for Jesus’s finished work of salvation because I can approach You anytime and anywhere without any fear. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
