Leviticus 15:31 NLT
”This is how you will guard the people of Israel from ceremonial uncleanness. Otherwise they would die, for their impurity would defile my Tabernacle that stands among them.“
No scare tactics
As a child, I remember yearning for simple pleasures such as feeling the rain droplets on my hand, drawing lines in the sand, and many more. However, my elders prevented me from experiencing these past times using scare tactics. They warned me of the dangers of getting wet in the rain or playing in the sand, citing various reasons such as illnesses or even the wrath of God. As I grew older, I realized that God does not use scare tactics to control us. Instead, He guides us through His word and His love.
In the referenced scripture, the Lord asserted that Moses and Aaron must follow specific instructions to keep their people safe. These instructions were clear and concise and did not use scare tactics. The Lord knew His people needed guidance and protection lovingly and respectfully provided it. Unfortunately, today, the use of fear to manipulate God’s people is on the rise, thereby scaring people into submission instead of leading them through love.
Another insight is that impurity leads to death. Therefore, we must turn away from sin to gain eternal life with Jesus. We must keep ourselves and others pure, just as Moses and Aaron were tasked with guarding the people of Israel. We must guard our community against impurity and maintain our fellowship with God. By doing so, we can ensure that we live a life that is pleasing to God and that we are in harmony with His divine plan for us.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I seek Your divine help and wisdom to carry out every task that You have assigned me so that I may bring glory to Your holy name. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
