Leviticus 15:29 NLT
”On the eighth day she must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons and present them to the priest at the entrance of the Tabernacle.“
In Christ alone is dignity
In the referenced scripture, the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron to instruct any woman healed from unusual blood flow to present certain items for a purification exercise. The presentation of the items could only be done at the entrance of the Tabernacle and not at any other place. Although the scripture did not specify when this presentation should be done, it cannot be done at night. This is because the presentation of these items was a public declaration of the woman’s healing and her return to society.
Even if the healed woman wished to keep her business private, such a request was unacceptable. In addition, she could not outsource the presentation of the purification items to her family members or relatives, meaning each person was responsible for their inadequacies and had to make their presentation. There was grace to choose between turtledoves and young pigeons, but there was no room for silent confession or restoration.
When Jesus came, He offered and still offers grace that imbues dignity. His grace is so extraordinary that it should be widely embraced. Jesus’s grace offers a different way of life that values human life and dignity above all else. However, the actions of many show that they are uninterested in it. Instead, they launder the image of the old system that deprives them of their dignity. Friends, what’s your choice?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the dignity that the finished work of salvation accorded me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
