”To purify the house the priest must take two birds, a stick of cedar, some scarlet yarn, and a hyssop branch.“
In preparation for reoccupation
Under the Old Testament, the Lord gave the priest a rubric for each endeavour. It started with Aaron, and each was subsequently passed on to others. One such is captured in the referenced scripture. The instruction shows that not only living things require purification but also non-living things such as houses suspected of mildew contamination. Like most purification exercises under the Old Testament, the purification of such a house required some items which were symbolic.
Another message is that only a house that survived the quarantine period can be purified, not a home in which the priest found mildew to have spread, which, by the way, must be torn down. In other words, as long as we are still living, we can be reunited with God, but there is no hope of reunion once the building is torn down. Friends, let us continue to purify our bodies, which is the Temple of God with the words of Christ.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Your word says my body is Your Temple. Please purify and occupy it. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
