Leviticus 14:36 NLT
”Before the priest goes in to inspect the house, he must have the house emptied so nothing inside will be pronounced ceremonially unclean.“
His word protects
God knows what’s on our minds, and without His guidance, we will make mistakes in our responses to challenging situations. Therefore, we must allow His instructions to shape our actions. If not for the instruction in today’s referenced scripture, perhaps the priest might order the demolition of the building and destroy everything therein.
However, the instructions put structure to the reaction of the priest to the situation. We read an account of God instructing the priest to request a house with the likelihood of contamination by mildew be emptied so that nothing in the house would be considered ceremonially unclean. This instruction highlights God’s concern for even the most minor things that may affect our lives.
The instruction was comforting for someone whose dwelling was likely contaminated. The situation probably caused a great deal of emotional distress as he might have had to think about where to lay his head and his family members’ heads. The fact God did not permit the priest to view the household items in the same manner as the house means that God rules in every situation. Since the priest cannot do otherwise, it is an assurance that no one can treat what belongs to us shabbily.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, speak Your word and protect everything about me. Please help me always know You are the One safeguarding everything I have and will have. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
