Leviticus 14:29 NLT
”The priest will apply the oil remaining in his hand to the head of the person being purified. Through this process, the priest will purify the person before the Lord.“
‭‭
Apply the remaining oil
The scripture referenced today teaches several valuable lessons. Firstly, it reveals that when God commissions a task, He decides how everything should be used. As for the purification exercise, God instructed the priest to use the remaining olive oil on the head of the person being purified. This indicates that the Lord has a specific purpose for every resource and every situation.

Secondly, it teaches that we must be careful to obey everything the Lord instructs. When the Lord said “remaining oil,” He meant the oil on the palm. This shows that even the most minor details matter when following God’s instructions. We must not deviate from what the Lord has commanded; instead, we should follow His instructions precisely.

Thirdly, it teaches about love for one’s neighbour. The Lord instructed the priest to apply the remaining olive oil on the head of the person being purified, which requires love and compassion to perform the task. This is because the person being purified was previously excommunicated, and applying the oil signifies their reintegration into the community. It takes love and understanding to perform such a task without fearing that the situation that led to the excommunication of the person will happen to one.

In summary, the scripture teaches us to trust in God’s plan for every situation, to follow His instructions precisely, and to show compassion and love towards our neighbours.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray I will always trust and adhere to Your instructions and show love and compassion toward my neighbour in every interaction. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
