Leviticus 14:25 NLT
”Then the priest will slaughter the lamb for the guilt offering. He will take some of its blood and apply it to the lobe of the right ear, the thumb of the right hand, and the big toe of the right foot of the person being purified.“
Faith in God
The scripture for today’s reflection is based on the priest’s role in purifying a person. The Lord commanded the priest to sacrifice the lamb for the guilt offering, and the priest was responsible for carrying out this task. This instruction implies that the Lord knew the priest had the strength and capability to perform this duty. Therefore, the scripture teaches us that if the Lord instructs us to do something, we should trust that we have the strength to do it and not shy away from our responsibilities.
After slaughtering the lamb, the priest was instructed to take some of its blood and apply it to specific parts of the person being purified. This act signified that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. It was essential for the priest to carry out this instruction to ensure the person’s purification. While the lamb’s sacrifice was necessary, applying the blood to the person was sufficient. The priests applied the blood with their bare hands, evidence of trust in God. They trusted Him to protect them from harm.
The priests could have used hyssop leaves to apply the blood to the person, but their trust in God’s protection allowed them to do it with their bare hands. This act shows that faith in God can help us overcome our fears and worries. So, friend, this scripture teaches us to trust the Lord’s instructions and have faith that we have the strength to carry out our responsibilities. It also reminds us that faith in God can help us overcome our fears and worries.
