Leviticus 13:42 NLT
”However, if a reddish white sore appears on the bald area on top of his head or on his forehead, this is a skin disease.“
‭‭
Don’t give room for ‘if’
Baldness was not considered a skin disease or condition that made one unclean in the Old Testament. For instance, prophet Elisha, who was bald, lived amongst his people without any issues. The only thing that made a bald person ceremonially unclean was the presence of a reddish-white sore on his head or forehead.

The scripture referenced in today’s discussion highlights that the occurrence of this condition was not set in stone. Therefore, it was the responsibility of any bald person to maintain personal hygiene and avoid anything that could lead to the appearance of a reddish sore. This includes keeping his scalp clean and avoiding contact with any substance that could irritate or infect the skin.

Similarly, we must also maintain spiritual “personal hygiene” by guarding our hearts and avoiding anything that could make us unworthy of standing in the presence of the Lord. Out of our hearts flow the issues of life, so it is essential to keep it pure and clean. This involves avoiding negative influences, such as hatred, envy, and bitterness, and cultivating positive traits like love, compassion, and forgiveness. Doing so can ensure that our hearts remain healthy and pure, enabling us to live a life that glorifies God.

Prayer
Dear God, please help me not to be lackadaisical in any position I find myself but be courageous to play my part in warding off any contaminant. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
