Leviticus 13:23 NLT
”But if the area grows no larger and does not spread, it is merely the scar from the boil, and the priest will pronounce the person ceremonially clean.“
‭‭
Grows no larger
A thought-provoking question in Psalm 11:3 asks what the righteous can do if the foundations are destroyed. Unless the righteous know that they can make corrections and bring the foundation back to its original state, nothing might be done. Therefore, if the status quo for the destroyed foundations remains, the buck stops with those whom God has empowered to make corrections but refuse to follow through.

Similarly, today’s scripture contains a subtle connotation about taking responsibility for our actions. It is not the priest’s responsibility to stop a skin rash from spreading; it is the responsibility of the affected person to do what is needed. If something goes wrong, we should not remain complacent. Instead, we must take action to correct the issue.

Just like skin rash, negative behaviours do not disappear on their own. Everyone who recognizes a problem has a responsibility to prevent it from spreading or getting worse. Do not provide an environment that enables anything that could contaminate you or your community of believers.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that whatever growth that does not glorify You in my life ceases to grow from this moment. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
