Leviticus 13:8 NLT
“If the priest finds that the rash has spread, he must pronounce the person ceremonially unclean, for it is indeed a skin disease.”

Not y(our) call
Power is a desire that is common among humans. The reason behind this is that it comes with authority. However, it should be used carefully as it can easily corrupt if not appropriately handled. The scripture reveals that God gave the priests an unimaginable level of power under the law.

As recorded in today’s referenced Scripture, the priest’s assessment was considered final. If they declared someone ceremonially clean, that person was clean, and nothing could invalidate it except themselves. But they did not do it on the fly; instead, they followed standard procedures before making such pronouncements.

As followers of Christ, we, too, have power. Our power is not the same as the priests’; it is also divine. How we use this power will reveal whether or not we truly follow Him. The disciples knew they had power, but John and James wanted to call down fire from heaven to burn a Samaritan village because they refused Jesus’s passage to Jerusalem. Jesus rebuked them and did not allow them to misuse divine power.

Let’s strive not to misuse divine power. Under no circumstances should we speak doom into anyone’s life. Instead, let’s always speak life into others’ lives. We should use our power to uplift and encourage those around us. This will help us stay true to our faith and follow Jesus’s example.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray I will not misuse the power bestowed on me. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, I pray that I will speak life into every life at all times. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
