Leviticus 13:2 NLT
“If anyone has a swelling or a rash or discolored skin that might develop into a serious skin disease, that person must be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons.”
Take it to the High Priest
The referenced scripture starts with the word “if,” indicating that the event it describes may or may not occur. It highlights that the event is not predetermined or set in stone and that there is a sense of uncertainty surrounding it.
Notably, the condition was not limited to specific individuals but extended to anyone who might be affected. This is why the term “anyone” is used. Furthermore, given that God is impartial, the instructions that address the situation are the same for everyone.
The instruction is to bring the affected person to Aaron, the priest, or one of his sons. This means that the individual must present themselves publicly and seek help from the community. This demonstrates the importance of seeking help when facing challenges rather than trying to overcome them alone.
It is essential to note that publicly sharing certain situations may infringe on an individual’s privacy. However, in Christ, there is no such infringement as believers are encouraged to support one another and share their struggles as a means of healing and growth.
In conclusion, the passage emphasizes the importance of seeking help and disclosing our struggles with the priest. It highlights that in the new covenant, Christ Jesus is our High Priest and the only person to whom we can pour out our hearts and reveal our innermost secrets and will never regret it. He is the ultimate source of comfort, healing, and restoration.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I bring all my fears and worries to You. Please assuage all my fears and anxieties. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
