Leviticus 12:8 NLT
“If a woman cannot afford to bring a lamb, she must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons. One will be for the burnt offering and the other for the purification offering. The priest will sacrifice them to purify her, and she will be ceremonially clean.”

Lack is not a permanent condition
The word “if” at the beginning of today’s referenced Scripture implies something significant. It suggests that the condition it modifies is not an established norm but rather a possibility or a probability. This condition is not meant to be a permanent state of being. If a woman lacks resources at the moment, it does not necessarily mean that she will remain in that state for the rest of her life. This statement is intended to provide hope and encouragement, especially for people who are struggling financially.

Whether male or female, it would help if you did not accept poverty as a lifelong status. Poverty should not be seen as a determinant of one’s future. The scripture says “if” and not “when.” This means that if you currently have enough resources, you should not live in fear of losing them. Therefore, being grateful for what you have and managing it well is essential. On the other hand, if you are facing scarcity today, take joy in the hope that tomorrow will be better in Christ (Psalm 30:5). Believe that God can change your situation. Have faith and work towards improving your circumstances.

In conclusion, the word “if” in the scripture conveys a message of hope and assurance that no condition is permanent. It encourages people to be grateful for what they have and to work towards improving their situations. Poverty should not be accepted as a lifelong status, as tomorrow can be better in Christ.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing to me that my lack today is not a permanent condition. In Jesus’s name, amen.
