Leviticus 12:5 NLT
“If a woman gives birth to a daughter, she will be ceremonially unclean for two weeks, just as she is unclean during her menstrual period. After waiting sixty-six days, she will be purified from the bleeding of childbirth.”
After waiting sixty-six days
In ancient Israel, women who had just given birth were required to observe a waiting period before touching anything holy or entering the sanctuary. Perhaps the essence of this purification ritual was to underscore the human desire for unfettered access to God Almighty.
Women who had given birth to daughters would wait sixty-six days before reuniting. It may seem unfair that fathers did not have to observe the waiting period. However, it is essential to understand that the law was not intended to be unfair. Instead, it was a means to promote holiness and purity.
The death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ Jesus abolished the waiting time for us to reconnect with God, making it possible to have a direct and personal relationship with Him. Therefore, we can experience constant fellowship with God, unencumbered by any restrictions or conditions.
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus Christ. Through His death, resurrection, and ascension, He removed all waiting times imposed by the law to reunite with You. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
