Leviticus 11:45 NLT
“For I, the Lord, am the one who brought you up from the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. Therefore, you must be holy because I am holy.”
You must be holy because I am holy
As parents, we all share the goal of wanting the best for our children. We pray they will succeed in every aspect of life and achieve more than we ever could. Seeing them grow into successful and confident individuals fills our hearts with joy and pride.
Similarly, our Heavenly Father desires that we become holy, just as He is holy. It’s a standard that God wants us to achieve, and it’s worth noting that He never asks us to do something He doesn’t do Himself. God is the perfect example of holiness, and as our Creator, He knows what’s best for us. He emphasizes the importance of holiness in our lives so we can understand its significance. Holiness is close to His heart, and He desires that we seek it wholeheartedly.
To show our love and gratitude towards Him, we must live our lives in a way that honours Him. We must aim to please Him in everything we do, whether in our thoughts, actions, or words. We must choose to walk in the path of righteousness at all times and avoid anything that would lead us astray. It’s a continuous process that requires discipline, commitment, and perseverance. By doing this, we will attain the holiness God desires.
In conclusion, holiness is an essential aspect of our relationship with God. It’s not just a religious obligation but a way of life. It’s a call to be set apart from the world and to live by God’s will. By striving to become holy, we demonstrate our love for Him and desire to please Him. It’s a journey that requires our full attention, but it’s worth it. We should always aim to walk in the path of righteousness, just as God does, and thereby attain the attribute of holiness close to His heart.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that I will be attentive to the nudging of the Holy Spirit. I ask that You help me to be more conscious of how I live my life and ensure that it does not drift from the path of righteousness. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
