Leviticus 11:40 NLT
“If you eat any of its meat or carry away its carcass, you must wash your clothes, and you will remain defiled until evening.”
‭‭
Let go and let God
The proverbial saying, “A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush,” often describes the value of having something sure versus the risk of pursuing something uncertain. This saying implies that it’s better to hold on to what you have than to risk losing it for something that may or may not be better.

However, what happens when the bird in your hand is no longer alive? In such a case, it’s no longer worth anything, let alone two in the bush. It is essential to recognize that holding on to something that is no longer of any value is not beneficial and may even be detrimental.

Unfortunately, many people find it challenging to let go of things that no longer serve them, whether a dead bird or something else. They might hold on to the past or “carry the carcass,” as it were, out of fear or sentimentality. However, this kind of attachment is not healthy, and it can prevent us from moving forward and growing.

In the book of Isaiah, God instructs us not to get fixated on the things of the old but to focus on the new things He has in store for us. God warns us against holding on to things that are no longer useful or relevant, comparing it to carrying the carcass of a clean animal. When we hold on to things we should let go of, we place fear above faith in God, which can create a divide between us and our Creator.

Therefore, it’s vital to let go of anything that no longer serves us and trust God to provide us with new opportunities. Dwelling on the past will only lead to frustration, regret, and missed opportunities. Instead, let’s choose to move forward with faith and hope for the future, knowing that God has good things in store for us if we are willing to let go of the old.

Prayer
Dear God, I come to You in prayer to surrender everything I have lost in my life. I trust You are the God of restoration and new beginnings, and I believe You can make all things new. I let go of any attachment to my past and embrace the hope and promise of the future You have in store for me. Thank You for being my rock and my refuge. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
