Healthy and fulfilling lives
Throughout history, dietary practices have played a significant role in the lives of individuals and communities. In the case of the Israelites, God provided them with dietary instructions as they journeyed towards the promised land. Interestingly, before their liberation from Egypt, God did not give them any specific dietary instructions. This change was not meant to constrict their lives but to improve them.

It is important to note that God declared the birds mentioned in the Scripture to be good when He created them. This indicates that they were created precisely as intended. However, their goodness does not depend on their usefulness as human food. Beyond their potential as a food source, these birds play an essential role in the ecosystem. They help to control pests, pollinate flowers, and distribute seeds. As a result, consuming them could disrupt the balance of the ecosystem, leading to negative consequences.

It is crucial to appreciate God’s thoughtfulness towards us by guiding us on what to eat to maintain good health. The dietary laws were designed to protect them from harmful practices. By observing the principles of a healthy diet and avoiding harmful practices, we can also benefit from this guidance today. Furthermore, the Bible encourages us to take care of our bodies as they are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we must strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle that will enable us to serve God effectively.

In John 10 verse 10, Jesus said, “I have come that they might have life, and have it abundantly.” This statement reflects God’s desire for us to live healthy and fulfilling lives. By embracing God’s guidance on what to eat, we can achieve this goal and live our lives to the fullest.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I do not want to flout Your instructions. Please let the Holy Spirit remind me that compliance with them is for my benefit. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
