Leviticus 10:19 NLT
“Then Aaron answered Moses, “Today my sons presented both their sin offering and their burnt offering to the Lord. And yet this tragedy has happened to me. If I had eaten the people’s sin offering on such a tragic day as this, would the Lord have been pleased?””
Would the Lord be pleased?
In Christian circles, the phrase “What would Jesus do?” has gained popularity and become a well-known cliche. This question serves as a reminder to measure our actions against God’s standards rather than human ones. This notion aligns with Aaron’s sentiments when he asked Moses whether the actions he wanted would have pleased the Lord. As followers of Christ, it is crucial to prioritize pleasing God above all else. In his letter to the church in Thessalonica, Paul reinforces this point. He stresses that his mission, along with Timothy and Silas, was to please God, not people (1 Thessalonians 2: 4, 6). When faced with the decision of whom to please through our actions and endeavours, we must choose one side. It is crucial to choose God, for His goodness and mercy are everlasting, and He remains the ultimate guide for our choices. Therefore, let us continue to ask ourselves, “What would Jesus do?” and strive to align our actions with God’s will.
Prayer
Dear God, please help me always to be mindful that I am accountable to You and should, therefore, be conscious of not displeasing You in anything. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
