Leviticus 10:16 NLT
“Moses then asked them what had happened to the goat of the sin offering. When he discovered it had been burned up, he became very angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s remaining sons.”
‭‭
What is important: the method or the message?
Yesterday, we delved into the story of Moses and his anger towards Eleazar and Ithamar. It was revealed that Moses was not upset because he stood to lose anything but was displeased with the deviation from the prescribed procedure. However, Moses failed to verify if the message remained intact despite the change in method. This situation is not uncommon, as many people get angry with others due to disagreements in the manner of execution. The lesson from the referenced scripture is that the method can vary as long as it does not undermine the message.

The burning of the goat of the sin offering by Eleazar and Ithamar was not an act of idol worship; instead, it was done to honour God Almighty. This example illustrates that we should refrain from holding on to the method at the expense of the message, which is the Good News. Remembering the conversation between Jesus Christ and the Samaritan woman in John 4 is crucial. The woman initially believed in the method of worship until she encountered the Messiah, who revealed to her the true message of worshipping God.

In conclusion, we should be open to varying methods of execution as long as they align with the message of Christianity. It is vital to focus on the message rather than the way to ensure that we stay true to our faith and honour God Almighty.

Prayer
Dear God, please help me to place my hope in the message, which is about the finished work of Christ on the cross and not on any method or technique. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
