Leviticus 9:8 NLT
“So Aaron came to the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sin offering for himself.”
Aaron came to the altar
In the previous verse, we learn that Moses instructed Aaron to approach the altar. This act can be seen as a symbol of God’s grace and favour towards Aaron. Today’s scripture reveals that Aaron approached the altar of his own volition without outside influence or urging. Not only did he promptly respond to the invitation, but he also took the initiative to slaughter the calf as a sin offering for himself. This is a powerful lesson for us all, as it illustrates how when we draw closer to God, we become increasingly aware of our imperfections and the need to strengthen our relationship with Him.
As we delve deeper into the scripture, we can see that Aaron’s first course of action was to seek atonement for his sin. This is a crucial step in our journey towards redemption and salvation, as it shows our willingness to take responsibility for our actions and seek forgiveness from God. It’s important to remember that even the most righteous among us are still sinners who need redemption. However, through the blood of Jesus Christ – our Lord and Savior – we can all find redemption, as His sacrifice atones for the sins of all humanity, not just one person.
This is why we must take the time to ask ourselves whether we have answered the divine call to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This is a question that we must all ponder and take action upon, as our eternal salvation depends on our response. Through Him, we can find true redemption, forgiveness, and salvation. May we all strive to draw closer to God and walk in His ways, seeking His forgiveness and grace in all we do.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I approach you with deep humility and a contrite heart, seeking your divine guidance in acknowledging and confessing my sins. I firmly believe that the precious blood of your Son, Jesus Christ, can wash away all my transgressions and cleanse me of my iniquities. I offer this fervent prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen.
