Leviticus 9:5 NLT
“So the people presented all these things at the entrance of the Tabernacle, just as Moses had commanded. Then the whole community came forward and stood before the Lord.”

The whole community
The passage in today’s scripture is one that we should all take a moment to reflect upon. It speaks of the Israelites’ attitudes and actions, which are truly commendable. The scripture notes that they all brought offerings for sin, burnt peace, and grain, and did so with a sense of unity that is truly inspiring. Indeed, unity is a key ingredient in serving God, and without it, communal sacrifice cannot be blessed by the Lord.

What is particularly noteworthy about the Israelites’ presentation is that they did not simply bring their offerings and leave. Instead, they came forward and stood before the Lord, demonstrating their active participation and eagerness to hear from Him. None of them shrank back or hid away, and Moses did not give them any advanced notice to consecrate themselves. These were people who were always ready and willing to meet with the Lord, no matter what.

These actions and attitudes of the Israelites are a powerful reminder to us all. Are we always prepared to meet with the Lord? Do we approach Him with the same sense of unity, eagerness, and readiness as the Israelites did? Let us take a moment to reflect on these questions and strive to cultivate the same spirit of devotion and dedication in our own lives.

Prayer
