Leviticus 8:34 NLT
“Everything we have done today was commanded by the Lord in order to purify you, making you right with him.”
How good is your heart?
Is it possible for us to act with pure altruism without expecting any reward or recognition in return? Many great minds have pondered this question throughout history. Adam Smith, the renowned economist, famously argued that the actions of the baker and butcher are not driven by benevolent motives but rather by self-interest.
However, there have been exceptions to this rule. One such exception is the figure of Moses, who dedicated his time and was meticulous in ensuring Aaron and his sons were made right with the Lord without any expectation of personal gain. This level of selflessness can only be achieved if one allows the Lord to take control of their life. As followers of Christ, we are expected to have the same selfless attitude (Philippians 2:3-4).
It is worth noting that Moses completed all the instructions in one day without delay or neglect. He worked tirelessly to complete all his tasks in one day, giving each one the careful attention it deserved. And he made it clear that everything he did was done in accordance with God’s instructions. As followers of Christ, we must also strive to align our actions with God’s will and serve others with a pure heart, free from any selfish motives.
Without Jesus, we would be left to our own devices, and the kind of sacrificial service Moses exemplified would be impossible to achieve. But thanks to Jesus’ selfless sacrifice on the cross, we are made right with the Father and empowered to serve others in His name.
Prayer
Dear God, I humbly pray that all my actions align with Your divine will and that they may serve as a means for others to draw closer to You. I offer this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.
