Leviticus 8:12 NLT
“Then he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head, anointing him and making him holy for his work.”
Anointing makes the difference
Have you taken note of the order of events during Aaron’s anointing ceremony? It is worth mentioning that Aaron was first dressed in his priestly garments before he received anointing oil on his head. While the attire was undoubtedly an important aspect of his role, it did not confer any holiness upon him. It is possible that people might have assumed that he was ready to take up his position once he was dressed, but that was not the case. It is crucial to remember that garments alone do not hold any power or confer any spiritual authority. The real power comes from the anointing, as seen in Aaron’s case, where he received his anointing through the oil that Moses poured on him.
Interestingly, when Jesus empowered his disciples, there was no mention of oil. However, it is vital to seek the anointing through Jesus, as no article of clothing or any other material possession holds any divine power. Therefore, while the clothing worn by Aaron was undoubtedly symbolic and significant, it was not the source of his spiritual authority, which came from a divine and more profound source. As such, we should focus on seeking the anointing from Jesus, the true source of spiritual power and authority.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I cannot perform any divine task without Your anointing. Please, let Your anointing rest and abide with me. In Jesus’s name, amen.
