Leviticus 8:2-3 NLT
“Bring Aaron and his sons, along with their sacred garments, the anointing oil, the bull for the sin offering, the two rams, and the basket of bread made without yeast, and call the entire community of Israel together at the entrance of the Tabernacle.”
Bring Aaron and his sons
Today’s scripture reference may seem straightforward, but it carries a profound message that only a heart that embraces God’s teachings can fully comprehend. As humans, it goes against our nature to celebrate the successes and good fortunes of others. We tend to harbour jealousy and resentment towards those who have been blessed in ways we desire. This is evident in the story of Haman, who felt ashamed when he paraded Mordecai around the city as ordered by the king (Esther 6:12). Similarly, Paul would not have encouraged believers in Rome, and by extension, all believers, to rejoice with those who rejoice if it came naturally to us (Romans 12:15).
It is crucial to remember that being the messenger of someone else’s blessings does not diminish our worth or significance. God has a beautiful plan for each of us, and our role in someone else’s life may be a small part of that plan. As we grow in our relationship with God, we learn to appreciate the unique journey He has set out for us, trusting that our blessings will come in due time. Let us strive to be more like Christ, rejoicing with those who rejoice and trusting in God’s plan for our lives.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I humbly pray for the Holy Spirit to reside within me so that I may find contentment in Your plan for my life and joyfully carry out any tasks assigned to me in Your vineyard. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
