Leviticus 7:18 NLT
“If any of the meat from the peace offering is eaten on the third day, the person who presented it will not be accepted by the Lord. You will receive no credit for offering it. By then the meat will be contaminated; if you eat it, you will be punished for your sin.”
Love your neighbours as yourself
The purpose of a peace offering was to engender a cordial relationship with God. However, the timing of when the meat from the peace offering was eaten was crucial for God. As long as the meat was consumed within the specified window, the offeror was in good standing. But if the consumption occurred outside the window, the reverse will be the case. Obviously, no one would intentionally ruin their cordial relationship with God. It all depends on the people invited to the banquet. While it may be challenging to keep an eye on everyone, trustworthy neighbours will refrain from any actions that could render the offeror unacceptable to God. Friends, do you genuinely love your neighbours?
Prayer
Dear God, I humbly seek your guidance to ensure that my worship is not in vain. I pray that I do not engage in anything that could cause others to waste their worship and ultimately lead to conflict with You. Through Jesus Christ, I ask for your help. Amen.
