Leviticus 7:9 NLT
“Any grain offering that has been baked in an oven, prepared in a pan, or cooked on a griddle belongs to the priest who presents it.”
Great comfort
It is a source of great comfort to know that God is not a harsh master but rather a kind and generous provider for those who follow Him. Today’s scripture reminds us that God’s provision was planned long before the priests began performing sacrifices, demonstrating His incredible foresight and wisdom. As the only One who knows the end from the beginning, it is clear that God’s planning could not have been better.
Moreover, it is worth noting that there are no restrictions on the materials given to the officiating priest. Whether the grain offering was baked, prepared in a pan, or cooked on a griddle, it belonged to the priest who performed the sacrifice, ensuring they were not reliant on the offeror for food. This is an important detail, as it ensures that the priest can maintain their dignity and avoid any accusations of gluttony.
For those who serve God, it is reassuring to know that He will provide for their needs with honour and respect. God’s provision is not limited to physical needs but extends to every aspect of our lives. As we follow Him, we can trust He will guide and care for us, always leading us toward His perfect plan for our lives.
Prayer
Dear Lord, throughout history, You have shown great care and compassion towards Your chosen servants, particularly Your priests. With Your divine guidance, they have carried out their sacred duties with dignity and grace. As I embark on the task You assigned me, I humbly ask for Your blessings and guidance. May I be filled with the same focus and dedication the old testament priests possessed so I may carry out my responsibilities with the utmost care and attention. I offer this prayer in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
