Leviticus 5:10 NLT
“The priest will then prepare the second bird as a burnt offering, following all the procedures that have been prescribed. Through this process the priest will purify you from your sin, making you right with the Lord, and you will be forgiven.”
Priests were humans
It probably was tiring for anyone who could not afford turtle doves or pigeons and trying to catch them to atone for ignorantly committed sin. However, do not forget that after delivering these materials, the priest must complete the rest. One major thing the priest had to do was to sniff out lives from the turtledoves or pigeons and then burn them. Unless one is stonehearted, there is no way one’s emotional health would not spiral downward conducting such endeavors as often as needed. The lesson here is that sin does not only impact the offender, but it also has a ripple effect, even on the priest. Therefore the onus is on everyone to live a worthy life that would not wear others out.
Prayer
Help me, Lord, to live a life worthy of Your name and never to cause problems for myself or others. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
