Leviticus 5:9 NLT
“Then he will sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering against the sides of the altar, and the rest of the blood will be drained out at the base of the altar. This is an offering for sin.”
An offering for sin
You and I know that there are different levels of infractions and, consequently, believe that they should have diverse consequences. However, for God, a deficiency is a deficiency, and it carries the same penalty. Come to think of it. All the instructions that God spelt out for the Israelites in Leviticus 5 pertained to ignorant sins. The implication is that holiness is something that God holds dearly. Notice that something had to give way before the offender could be made right with God. An animal or a bird’s life had to go for it before a sinner could be made right with God. Remember that God created the materials offered for sacrifices. So if a man loves God, he would not engage in immoral activities, knowing that redemption requires using one of the things that God made to appease Him.
