Leviticus 5:7 NLT
“But if you cannot afford to bring a sheep, you may bring to the Lord two turtledoves or two young pigeons as the penalty for your sin. One of the birds will be for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.”
Room for everyone
God is not, and HE will never be demanding! HE knows our frames, so HE itemized different fines based on the people’s economic status. By offering the option, God demonstrated that forgiveness of sin isn’t for the highest bidder. Did you notice that God said whoever could not afford a sheep or a female goat could bring turtledove or pigeons from their farms? HE allowed everyone to use materials that were accessible. All that anyone who wanted to use either of them needed to do was to catch them. The question is, who owns all the animals – sheep, lambs, turtledoves, etc? They all belonged and still belong to God. Forgiveness belongs to the Lord and even the materials to actualize it. Friend, it is in Jesus that we have forgiveness of our sins. Therefore let’s accept the finished work of salvation purchased through HIS blood.
Prayer
Dear Father, thank You for revealing that forgiveness is not for the highest bidder. I pray for the willingness to humble myself and accept the atoning power in the blood of the Lamb. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
