Leviticus 4:26 NLT
“Then he must burn all the goat’s fat on the altar, just as he does with the peace offering. Through this process, the priest will purify the leader from his sin, making him right with the Lord, and he will be forgiven.”
We have been forgiven
One thing about burning fat from the sacrificial animal is that it does not occur instantly. Yet it was one of the conditions the priest must do on behalf of any elder entangled in ignorant sin; otherwise, the elder would remain guilty. The fact that the priest’s action could make a guilty person guiltless indicated that love was involved. Except the priest was loving, he would not have done it or done it haphazardly. It was a must for the priest to love all regardless of the people’s perception of him. Another thing involved was trust. Note that the scripture did not state that the elder must or must not stay with the priest until the animal fat is totally burnt. Therefore, the elder must trust that the priest would do the needful on his behalf. Friends, in our relationship with one another, love and trust can not be overemphasized. Therefore, let’s love all and trust all.
Prayer
Rock of Ages, help me to love as You have commanded, in Jesus’s name, amen.
