Leviticus 3:11 NLT
“and the priest will burn them on the altar. It is a special gift of food presented to the Lord.”
Burn them on the altar
Everything in the old testament points to Jesus Christ. More importantly, the Tabernacle and every object in it centred on the person of Jesus Christ. One thing about the peace offering was that the presenter, Aaron’s sons, and the priest had responsibilities. The presenter must lay their hands on the animal. As for Aarons’s sons, their duty was to splatter the animal’s blood on all sides of the altar. After that, the priest must take over the exercise. The takeaway is threefold. First, just as the priest and Aaron’s sons worked hand in hand, we, too, must do the same wholeheartedly. It is instructive to note that God did not burden any of them. In addition, He gave each responsibility they could perform. Friend, are you engaged with your sacred duty, and are you performing according to instruction? In today’s referenced scripture, God instructed that the priest alone must burn everything on the altar. Whether the quantities of the fat were small or large, the onus was on the priest to burn everything on the altar. Whether it would take a short or an extended time, God demanded that the priest perform the exercise. Friends, let’s not be weary in performing our assignment before the Lord, even if it will take an extended period.
Prayer
Lord of all creation, help me to fulfill all my responsibilities before You without being weary. In Jesus’s name, amen.
