Leviticus 2:13 NLT
“Season all your grain offerings with salt to remind you of God’s eternal covenant. Never forget to add salt to your grain offerings.”
‭‭
Seasoned with salt
God doesn’t hide any information. He provides them willingly. In today’s referenced scripture, God instructed that all grain offerings, whether cooked, baked, or grilled, must be seasoned with salt. The reason wasn’t for preservatives but to remind the Israelites that God’s covenant is eternal. God does not need to be reminded of the eternal nature of His covenant; however, the Israelites and, by extension, needed to be reminded because when we are in the valley, it is not uncommon to think that God has forgotten His covenant. Just as the purpose of the salt was to increase purity and significantly reduce the chances of corruption of the grain offerings, it is worth noting that God’s covenant is pure and incorruptible. In the dispensation of the New Testament, grain offerings and other sacrifices are no longer needed, but we still need salt. Salt is no longer a substance, but we are now the salt of the earth, and we need the word of God to dwell richly in us to impact and impart our immediate environment effectively.

Prayer
Mighty King, please help me so that I never lose my savour as the salt of the world. In Jesus’s name, amen.
