Leviticus 2:12 NLT
“You may add yeast and honey to an offering of the first crops of your harvest, but these must never be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.”
Not everything goes
God didn’t outlaw the use and consumption of either yeast or honey. The Israelites could consume or add both to their diets and first fruit offerings. And speaking about the first fruit offering, it was not compulsory to use either yeast or honey. In essence, doing it does not confer an added advantage, and not doing it does not make one an enemy of God. However, the Lord did not allow such to be done on the altar of the burnt offerings. In other words, the altar was only meant for the offerings God authorized. The question is, why were they not allowed? Both signified the corruption in the human heart. Friends, in our worship of the King of glory, let us avoid activities or endeavors that could corrupt our hearts and cause our worship to be declined.
Prayer
Lord of all creations, please help me so that I will always do what You like but never do what You detest. In Jesus’s name, amen.
