Leviticus 1:15 NLT
“The priest will take the bird to the altar, wring off its head, and burn it on the altar. But first he must drain its blood against the side of the altar.”
Whose responsibility?
Today’s referenced scripture indicated that the offeror handed over a live turtledove or pigeon to the priest. They never look back to ask how the priest treated the object of the burnt offering. This speaks about trust on the part of the offeror, and the fact that the priests didn’t treat the offerings with disdain buttressed their high commitment to God. Friends, the death, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, make us members of the royal priesthood. And since the priests of the old covenant did not condescend or show preferential treatment on anyone’s burnt offering, our desire to relate with others in the house of God must not center on their economic status but on the love of God.
Prayer
Merciful King, please help me so I may follow Your lead without being weary. In Jesus’s name, amen.
