Numbers 3:38 NLT
“The area in front of the Tabernacle, in the east toward the sunrise, was reserved for the tents of Moses and of Aaron and his sons, who had the final responsibility for the sanctuary on behalf of the people of Israel. Anyone other than a priest or Levite who went too near the sanctuary was to be put to death.”

Leaders eat last!
Since time immemorial, humanity has grappled with the complex issue of selflessness, a struggle that transcends cultures and epochs. In our pursuits—whether in personal relationships, the workplace, or community engagements—we often find ourselves instinctively prioritizing our own needs and desires over those of others. However, a profound lesson on servant leadership emerges from the meticulous allocation of space around the Tabernacle.

It is noteworthy to point out that Moses and Aaron didn’t allocate space to themselves until the direct clans of Levi, Gershomites, Kohathites, and Merarites had received their designated spaces. This deliberate order illuminates a model of leadership deeply rooted in humility and service.

So, I ask you, friend: Does your approach to leadership genuinely mirror that of the selfless servant, who, much like Moses and Aaron, puts others’ needs before their own? Or do you find yourself habitually inclined to take for your own benefit, even while outwardly professing to prioritize your team’s needs? Are you truly prioritizing the interests of others, investing time and resources in their growth and success? Reflecting on these questions may lead you to a deeper understanding of your own leadership style and its impact on those around you.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your guidance to remain truly selfless in all my endeavours. In times of challenge and temptation, please remind me to put others’ needs before my own, cultivating a spirit of generosity and compassion. More importantly, instill in me the steady assurance that You are always in control of my life’s journey. Help me to trust in Your divine plan and timing, knowing that You will provide for my needs, both seen and unseen. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
