Numbers 3:37 NLT
“They were also responsible for the posts of the courtyard and all their bases, pegs, and ropes.”
…also responsible for…
Several years ago, I came across an article in a prominent newspaper that highlighted a particular politician’s outrage after being appointed to a governmental portfolio he deemed “dry.” This designation upset him significantly because he believed it lacked the glamour and public appeal associated with more prestigious roles in government. He could hardly understand dedicating his efforts to a ministry that didn’t provide opportunities for self-promotion or public admiration.
Unfortunately, this mindset reflects a broader trend that has infiltrated various sectors, including the church. Today, many individuals aspire to hold positions that are visible and command respect, often overlooking the fact that less glamorous responsibilities are also crucial.
Interestingly, the Merarite clans gracefully accepted the tasks of caring for the posts of the courtyard, along with their bases, pegs, and ropes, as there are no records of complaints from them regarding these duties. Likewise, they did not express a desire to swap responsibilities with the Kohathite or Gershonite clans, who held other vital roles in the Tabernacle. Instead, the Merarites accepted their assigned tasks with gratitude and diligence, carrying them out faithfully.
Friends, do you approach your duties with gratitude, or do you neglect them because they don’t align with your personality?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to approach each task assigned to me with gratitude and diligence, recognizing the importance of my contributions. May I carry out my duties wholeheartedly, ensuring that nothing is overlooked or dismissed. Above all, let my actions be motivated by a sincere desire to bring glory to You alone, reflecting Your love and grace in all that I do.In Jesus’s name, Amen.
