Numbers 3:32 NLT
“Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, was the chief administrator over all the Levites, with special responsibility for the oversight of the sanctuary.”

Prioritize worship over title
In today’s referenced scripture, we learn about Eleazar, the son of Aaron, appointment as the chief administrator over all the Levites. This role was not intended to position him as the leader of the tribe of Levi, but rather to provide oversight for the various services performed by the Levites in the sanctuary. His primary duty was to ensure that these services aligned with God’s specific instructions as outlined in the law.

The assignment was necessary because within the Tabernacle, certain sacred areas were reserved exclusively for the priests. This divine regulation underscored the necessity for oversight; without someone in charge to monitor their actions, the Levites could inadvertently find themselves in conflict with God’s ordinances. By appointing Eleazar as the chief administrator, God demonstrated His love and care for the Levites, ensuring their activities were conducted under divine guidance and in accordance with His will.

Furthermore, it is noteworthy that in the entirety of scripture, the title “chief administrator” is not mentioned in connection with Eleazar at any other point. This suggests that the designation was not meant to convey notions of hierarchy or superiority. Instead, it served a practical purpose in facilitating worship and maintaining the sanctity of the Tabernacle.

Therefore, let us shift our focus from the allure of titles and concentrate instead on fulfilling the service that God demands of us. Our commitment to carry out His work with sincerity and dedication is what truly counts in our spiritual journey.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to avoid the allure of religious titles and instead focus on my walk with You. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
