Numbers 3:21 NLT
“The descendants of Gershon were composed of the clans descended from Libni and Shimei.”

Prioritize authenticity
In Numbers 3:18, the scripture states, “The clans descended from Gershon were named after two of his descendants, Libni and Shimei.” This statement is notably reiterated in Numbers 3:21, prompting a question: why is this important? The repetition serves to emphasize the authenticity and integrity of the lineage that formed the clans of Gershon. It underscores that the descendants of Gershon were exclusively identified through these two sons, Libni and Shimei, signifying a clear and unadulterated heritage.

This specificity suggests that there was no inclination to artificially inflate the clan’s numbers by introducing additional or fictitious descendants. Instead, the clans were intentionally maintained with their defined structure, preserving the historical and genealogical accuracy of their lineage. This practice reflects a broader principle in maintaining the purity of teachings—encouraging us to honour the original narratives without the temptation to embellish or alter them. Friends, let us commit to preserving the authenticity of our foundations, ensuring that we do not add anything that might obscure or dilute the original truth.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I ask for Your guidance in helping me remain steadfast in my commitment to the truth. Please grant me the strength to resist any temptation to embellish or distort the truth for personal gain or to appease anyone. May I always prioritize authenticity over acceptance in all my interactions. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
