Numbers 3:2 NLT
“The names of Aaron’s sons were Nadab (the oldest), Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.”
‭‭
The names of Aaron’s sons
Holding an office or position is expected to bring about a transformation in a person. However, the extent of this change often depends on their self-perception and the purpose of the office. For someone embodying Christ-like qualities, a position will not lead to arrogance; instead, it will produce the fruit of the Spirit.

In today’s referenced scripture, Moses mentions the names of Aaron’s sons for the second time. The first mention occurred when they stood alongside their father, Aaron, as they were divinely appointed to the priesthood, marking their initial introduction to their roles within the community of faith. What is particularly notable is that their names remain unchanged during this second mention, symbolizing the enduring nature of their identities, despite their evolving responsibilities.

Unfortunately, in many contemporary church settings, there is a tendency for individuals to adopt titles based on their roles, which can imply that they are fundamentally different from their peers. This practice often leads to a misguided sense of elevation or entitlement among leaders, making it so that no one dares to address them by their given names.

It is essential to stay grounded and resist the temptation to allow a new position to inflate your ego. Instead, strive to embody humility and reverence before the Lord, recognizing that authentic leadership is founded on service and integrity rather than on the titles we hold.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I earnestly pray that I may prioritize walking in humility and maintaining a deep, meaningful relationship with You above all else. Help me to focus my heart and mind on eternal truths rather than getting caught up in the distractions of this world, which hold no lasting significance. In Jesus’s name, I pray, Amen.
