Numbers 1:51 NLT
“Whenever it is time for the Tabernacle to move, the Levites will take it down. And when it is time to stop, they will set it up again. But any unauthorized person who goes too near the Tabernacle must be put to death.”
*Grace through Christ*
It is clear how God addresses sin: the consequence remains consistent in both the Old and New Covenants: the wage of sin is death, as stated in Romans 6:23, and exemplified in the account of Uzzah (2 Samuel 6:6-7). Under the Old Covenant, there was no mediator to intercede on the sinner’s behalf. As a result, there was no mercy for anyone who came too close to the Tabernacle, which represents the presence of God.
However, under the New Covenant established through Jesus Christ, we have a divine advocate interceding for us before the Father. Through Christ’s redemptive work, we have been granted unprecedented access; we can confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find help in our times of need, as expressed in Hebrews 4:16. This profound transformation highlights the depth of God’s love and the limitless grace available to those who believe.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the grace in Jesus that allows me to approach the throne of grace and receive mercy in times of need. Amen.
