Leviticus 27:14 NLT
“If someone dedicates a house to the Lord, the priest will come to assess its value. The priest’s assessment will be final, whether high or low.”
No peer review
In numerous professions where assessment forms a key component of job responsibilities, it is common practice to have at least one colleague review the assessments made by others. This peer review process ensures that the assessor has meticulously followed procedures, effectively “crossing all the t’s and dotting all the i’s.”
However, God did not design a system where one priest validates the assessment of another. This unique arrangement highlights a profound principle: God expects each priest to uphold His standards without compromising their integrity or purpose. The lesson for you and me is apparent: God desires each individual to embody self-accountability in every task entrusted to them.
This calls for a deep sense of personal responsibility, as priests are expected to reflect God’s judgment and values in their assessments. Therefore, the question arises: Are you self-accountable in your roles and responsibilities? Is your self-accountability in alignment with the divine mandate God has given you?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You have entrusted me with responsibilities in all areas of life and trust that I will perform as expected. Please help me to engage in self-accountability and carry out these tasks with integrity and honour to Your name. In Jesus’s name, I pray, Amen.
