Leviticus 27:3 NLT
“here is the scale of values to be used. A man between the ages of twenty and sixty is valued at fifty shekels of silver, as measured by the sanctuary shekel.”
The scale of values
There are fundamentally two paths in everything we do: the human way and God’s way. To truly please God, we must approach every endeavour by strictly adhering to His divine guidance rather than relying on our understanding or societal norms. The Lord has explicitly stated, “Here is the scale of values to be used,” which implies that there are alternative scales or metrics of judgment that the people of Israel—and indeed, all of us—might be tempted to follow. However, God has made it clear that we are to utilize His prescribed scale of values in our decision-making processes.
This distinction is crucial. When we embark on any divine assignment, we must remain steadfast in applying God’s scale of values, even if they differ significantly from what we are accustomed to or what is popular among our peers. Seeking accolades or approval from others for our efforts will ultimately be unfulfilling if those efforts do not conform to God’s expectations. Through our unwavering commitment to His principles, even amidst challenges or opposition, we gain true fulfillment and recognition in our divine assignments. Remember, the path to divine approval often diverges from societal approval, but this very adherence to God’s scale of values can lead to the most profound rewards.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not hesitate to use the scale You have given me to attend to divine assignments. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
