Leviticus 26:22 NLT
“I will send wild animals that will rob you of your children and destroy your livestock. Your numbers will dwindle, and your roads will be deserted.”
The sacred chain of authority
In Genesis 1, the scripture reveals that God created all living creatures, including the vast array of animals that inhabit the Earth. The verse highlighted today reinforces this foundational truth. If God had not created these creatures, sending them forth to carry out His tasks would have been difficult, if not impossible.
This brings us to an important insight regarding the inherent obedience of these creatures. When the Lord states He will send them forth, it reflects His confidence in their willingness to comply with His commands without question. This poses a reflective challenge for us: Can God count on you to communicate His message faithfully and without hesitation? Are we as willing to serve His purposes as the wild animals are to heed His call?
Additionally, it’s easy to blame external forces—outsiders, spiritual adversaries, or sinister powers lurking in dark places—for our difficult situations. However, today’s scripture encourages a shift in perspective. Anyone facing unfavourable circumstances is urged to look inward rather than cast blame. We should seek our hearts and plead with God for mercy. This introspective approach emphasizes personal responsibility in our spiritual journey.
Regarding the punishments described in the referenced scripture, it is essential to recognize that all outcomes stem from God’s divine authority and sovereignty. Before casting blame or binding others, ask for God’s mercy, as He may be addressing your disobedience. Lastly, the verse indicates that the sacred chain of authority will change if the people of Israel refuse to follow God’s instructions (Genesis 1:28; Psalm 8:6-8).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I ask that I will not, through disobedience, cause You to change the sacred chain of authority You have given to me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
