Leviticus 26:9 NLT
“I will look favorably upon you, making you fertile and multiplying your people. And I will fulfill my covenant with you.”
Accessing divine favour
One of the things we seek in life is divine favour. However, many people don’t realize that accessing it doesn’t require extraordinary performance. Interestingly, we’ve often been taught that exceptional performance is the key to unlocking divine favour. In today’s referenced scripture, we learn what God says about gaining His favour. First and foremost, it comes from Him, as He states, “I will look favorably upon you.”
The question then arises: What must I do for God to favour me? For the people of Israel, God asked them not to make idols, set up carved images, or create sacred pillars and sculptured stones for worship. He said, “I am the Lord your God. You must keep my Sabbath days of rest and show reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord” (Leviticus-26:1-2).
It’s important to note that the promise of divine favour rests in God’s hands, but our responsibility is to align ourselves with His will. Anyone who deliberately disobeys the Lord’s instructions cannot expect His grace to overflow in their life. Remember, divine favour belongs to anyone who acknowledges the King of Glory as their only God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, in Your infinite wisdom, You have promised to look favourably upon those who turn away from idol worship and place their faith in You alone. I humbly ask for Your guidance and strength to help me identify and discard any lingering remnants of idolization in my heart and life. Whether these idols are tangible or intangible—material possessions, unhealthy relationships, or unworthy ambitions—grant me the clarity to recognize them and the resolve to let them go. May my heart be entirely devoted to You, reflecting a life of faith and obedience. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
