Leviticus 25:9 NLT
“Then on the Day of Atonement in the fiftieth year, blow the ram’s horn loud and long throughout the land.”
Blow the ram’s horn
God does not require His followers to undertake tasks merely for amusement. Each instruction is imbued with deep significance, with timing and frequency playing crucial roles in their purpose. Walking in alignment with the Lord entails a commitment to regard every divine directive as vital, even when its rationale can be difficult for us to comprehend or accept.
On the Day of Atonement during the fiftieth year, a significant event known as the Jubilee, the Lord underscored the importance of blowing the ram’s horn—not just with volume, but also for an extended duration that could be heard across the entire land. This loud and persistent sound was not a ritualistic formality; it carried a profound purpose. The objective was clear: to make sure that every individual within the region had the opportunity to hear the call, leaving no room for anyone to plead ignorance.
Moreover, sounding the ram’s horn was not delegated to an angelic being or Moses but entrusted to a person among the Israelites. This individual must understand the monumental implications that ringing through the Hebrew lands—his action heralded a chance for restoration, forgiveness, and a fresh beginning for the community.
So, I pose this question: how far are you willing to embrace and follow God’s instructions? Are you prepared to be the voice that boldly proclaims His will, even when doing so poses challenges, discomfort, or disrupts your routine? Are you ready to step up and carry the weight of that responsibility, knowing the transformative power of your obedience?
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that You will help me to blow the ram’s horn loud and long throughout my domain, i.e., my family. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
