Leviticus 24:7 NLT
“Put some pure frankincense near each stack to serve as a representative offering, a special gift presented to the Lord.”
Only the Pure
The concept of God’s omniscience is universally accepted, transcending personal beliefs and individual perspectives. In today’s referenced scripture, we find a significant moment where the I AM WHO I AM instructed Moses to convey to Aaron and his descendants that pure frankincense would be added to each stack of loaves made from the finest choice flour.
This directive carries profound meaning, as it emphasizes that God did not merely make a general request; He explicitly asked for frankincense, highlighting the importance of this particular substance in their sacrificial offerings. It indicates that in our relationship with the divine, there is an expectation for intentionality and purity in what we offer. Pure frankincense, rather than any type, underscores a deeper principle: God wants the best.
Moreover, the specificity of the request invites us to reflect on the quality of our worship. Are we genuinely offering our purest forms of devotion, or are we inclined to selectively choose what we present to God? Do we hold back our best, thinking that a lesser offering will suffice? As we contemplate these questions, we are encouraged to examine the sincerity and purity of our worship practices. More importantly, it should challenge us to move beyond casual rituals and strive for a deeper, more meaningful expression of our faith.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You deserve pure worship, and I pray that I will never deprive You of it. Please help me, Lord Jesus. Amen.
