Leviticus: 22:12 NLT
“If a priest’s daughter marries anyone other than a priest, she may not eat any of the sacred contributions.”
Stay connected
An English saying states that one cannot both eat their cake and have it; this expression encapsulates the idea that we often face choices with distinct consequences. In today’s referenced scripture, the Lord emphasized a particular point regarding the daughters of priests: while they have the autonomy to choose their life partners, they cannot dictate the outcomes or implications that stem from their decisions.
The scripture further clarifies that if a priest’s daughter opts to marry someone outside the priesthood, she effectively relinquishes certain spiritual benefits and privileges exclusive to those who remain within the priestly lineage. This suggests a clear delineation: one cannot straddle both sides of the line.
The message is clear for individuals who aspire to a deeper relationship with Jesus: We are called to commit ourselves wholeheartedly to Him. If we choose to pursue attachments or unions that divert our focus away from Christ, we must be prepared to accept the consequences of that decision—namely, the loss of the blessings and promises reserved for those fully devoted to Him. Thus, the choice is significant, urging us to reflect on the path we wish to take and the commitments we are willing to embrace.

Heavenly Father, guide me to remain deeply connected with You. May my choices never lead me away from Your presence. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
