Consider the legacy you carry
The story below took place a few years ago when I had the honour of participating in a hiring panel. We had interviewed numerous candidates for a particular position when a young man with a distinctive last name caught the board of directors’ attention. It turned out that he was the son of someone they knew. Despite this connection, the applicant delivered an outstanding performance during the interview. However, the board made a point to mention that his father had helped pave the way for him. This situation illustrates how the positive actions of a father can have a lasting impact on his son. However, today’s referenced scripture states that the domino effect can come from children to their parents. It’s no wonder that many parents remind their children to consider the reputation and legacy they carry.
Friend, have you considered yourself a cherished child of the Most High God through Jesus Christ? If you have, let’s consciously try to avoid any actions that would tarnish or bring dishonour to God’s name. Just as the priests were representatives of Christ and were expected to teach and lead godly, disciplined lives, we, too, should strive to live as good examples. Living as a good example means charity and kindness should begin in our homes. We should aim to lead pleasing lives in the sight of God, setting an example for our immediate family members to follow suit.
Prayer
In the name of Jesus, I pray for guidance from our Heavenly Father to help me effectively oversee and care for my family in accordance with His divine plan. Amen.
