Leviticus 20:24 NLT
“But I have promised you, ‘You will possess their land because I will give it to you as your possession—a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from all other people.”
I will give it to you
In Hebrews chapter 10, verse 23, the writer emphasizes God’s trustworthiness, stating, “God can be trusted to keep His promise.” This highlights God’s unwavering commitment to His word and faithfulness in fulfilling His promises. It is a reminder that God’s actions are not dependent on human effort, as demonstrated when the Israelites were delivered from Egypt and led to the promised land solely by God’s grace.
The question that arises is why we often feel the need to engage in spiritual efforts to compel God to fulfill His promises or to believe that our actions can influence the spiritual realm in favour of God’s work. Instead of engaging in unnecessary toil or falling prey to false teachings, we should find solace in the assurance that God will fulfill what He has promised.
When God assured the people of Israel that they would possess the land flowing with milk and honey, it was not because of their own merits or efforts but because of God’s divine will. This signifies that all blessings come from God and are given voluntarily, not forcibly. Therefore, we should trust in God’s promises and rest in the knowledge that He will fulfill them according to His will.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I can’t deny that I worry about when Your promises will be fulfilled and often question myself whether I am leaving some stones unturned. However, I have learnt that You do not desire any sacrifice other than to trust and obey. Please help me, Lord, to continue to fix my eyes, heart, and mind on You. In Jesus’s name, amen.
