Leviticus 20:1-2 NLT
“The Lord said to Moses, “Give the people of Israel these instructions, which apply both to native Israelites and to the foreigners living in Israel. “If any of them offer their children as a sacrifice to Molech, they must be put to death. The people of the community must stone them to death.”

No other God
The role of God in our lives cannot be overstated. In the verses above, God emphasizes the need for the people of Israel to change their old ways and worship only Him. He warns them against reverting to their old ways of offering children as sacrifices to other gods. Instead, God requires them to offer sacrifices of sheep or oxen.

Similarly, as God’s children, we are asked to make a living sacrifice of our bodies, as mentioned in Romans 12:1. This living sacrifice should encompass every aspect of our lives, including our time, worship, and love. We should not dedicate our entire existence to material possessions such as our careers or money, as the Israelites did when they worshipped a golden calf made from the gold they received from the Egyptians. We should seek wisdom and not allow God’s blessings to replace God in our lives.

Prayer
Dear Father, I humbly request the grace and strength to ensure that nothing else occupies the central place in my life that rightfully belongs to You. Please help me resist the temptation to let worldly possessions and treasures overshadow the importance of Your presence in my life and my family. I pray for the wisdom and discernment to align my priorities with Your will. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
